Powens Direct Debit lets you pull funds directly from a customer’s bank account automatically when a payment is due. It supports both SEPA Core Direct Debit and B2B Direct Debit, making it ideal for recurring payments like rent, subscriptions, loan repayments or utility bills — reducing manual work and unpaid bills.

Yes. You decide exactly when to pull funds and how much. This makes Direct Debit suitable for variable subscriptions, multiple ad-hoc transfers, or any scenario where payment amounts or dates change over time.

Powens’ Direct Debit is augmented by Open Banking: it can auto-fill mandates and prevent debit failures by retrieving the debtor’s bank balance directly. This reduces rejected payments due to insufficient funds and streamlines the mandate setup process.

Powens processes 420,000+ monthly pay-ins via Direct Debit and Pay by Bank combined, for a yearly pay-in volume exceeding 1 Bn€.

The API allows you to sync debits with invoices, issue multiple beneficiary accounts (via Virtual IBANs) and orchestrate money movements. This automates the matching of collected payments to outstanding invoices, significantly reducing manual accounting work.

SDD Core covers all payer types (consumers and businesses) and is simpler to set up. The debtor may request a no-questions-asked refund within 8 weeks after the debit, and up to 13 months in the case of an unauthorized transaction. In contrast, SDD B2B is restricted to business debtors and requires the debtor’s bank to verify the mandate before execution; however, once collected, the payment is irrevocable, providing creditors with full certainty of settlement.

Direct Debit avoids card-related issues like expired cards, forgotten renewals, small spend limits and chargebacks. Payments are pulled directly from bank accounts, ensuring continuity for recurring billing without relying on customers to keep payment details up to date.
