Untimely SCAs and renewals every 90 days will soon be a thing of the past! The European Banking Authority (EBA) has opened a public consultation to amend the Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) on strong authentication.
At a minimum, the following will be achieved:
- The SCA exemption during the interval between two renewals will become mandatory. This means that the bank will no longer be able to impose SCA between SCA renewal dates;
- The SCA renewal period will be extended from 90 days to at least 180 days.
These changes will make the services we provide together to your users even more efficient and pleasant. These changes should take effect in just under a year.
This is a great victory for TPPs, and in particular for Powens, which is very invested for you on the lobbying scene in both France and Europe. Indeed, more than two years of hard work was needed to achieve these breakthroughs.
And the work does not end there, since we have submitted a response to this consultation in order to consolidate this progress, and especially to try to obtain an even longer time.
Indeed we also called on you in the final straight of this great adventure: your feedback has been substantial and very positive. Thank you for your support and trust. Now more than ever, we are ready to build the future world of open finance together!
